This book…. When I say that it had me in a CHOKEHOLD!!! This is such a toe-curling, epic, sad, cute standalone fantasy book I have read! I FUCKING MEAN IT! The depth of the characters, the plot, the way I feel in love with Rook not even 40 pages in! (Song that reminds me of the story: False Confidence - Noah Kahan) This book is probably one of the best standalones I have read so far.. if it wasn’t for ‘The song of Achilles’. (But nothing compares to that one) The only reason it is missing  a star is because I feel like we are missing something. Like, there are some things that we didn’t get an answer to. Like what happened of the winter fair.. or if Rook ever got his throne back? And let’s not forget, she is still MORTAL! So how TF is she supposed to RULE over the fair!? And it’s not like in Elfhame where mortals age slower, no here she just age at normal speed. And the fact that I was kind of missing Isobel’s character development in the end… Rook had his, and it’s realistic, considering that this is over, maybe, a week, two?  And he was a little fast on the whole’I love you’ kind of thing💀 And Rook kind of reminds me of Lucien(ACOTAR), but the eyes are more Rhys, so if they had a baby, Rook would be it😂🤌
