Mindfulness for Beginners by Jon Kabat-Zinn

3.0

This audiobook is something that probably should not be listened to while mindlessly doing other things. I typically listen to non-fiction audiobooks while driving and enjoying listening subconsciously, but that means I don’t take any exercises seriously in the text. The second half of this book has meditation exercises that need your full attention. I’ve done the raisin exercise before which made me wonder if I’ve read this book before. The raisin exercise is helpful in realizing the extent that mindfulness can take you, but I also feel like it’s a level too deep for beginners. Though Kabat-Zinn also says it doesn’t matter which meditation you do, do what works for you because all doors lead to the same place - more awareness.
