The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk

4.0

really a phenomenal book, and I kinda feel like reading it made me reassess my own trauma (including what I consider trauma, what's worked for me in my mental health journey, etc). Definitely a more traditional psych book in that it is very dense, full of citations & references & empirical evidence, but still willing to take some alluring liberties in utilizing folks' stories to demonstrate conceptual analyses.

towards the end, i got a little topic fatigue. wish I had been aware that this is a dense 350 pages, and even though it's expertly organized, it was a little too much for me to read casually. I bet it would be amazing in a classroom context with others to discuss with.
