Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
3.5
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

While reading Scarlet, I kept subconsciously comparing it to the first part, and the verdict is that it was not better. Cinder's plot and everything kept improving at somewhat a constant rate all through the book. This book, however, was kinda fun only at the beginning after which the fun plummeted. Someone described it as the middle book syndrome where the middle section of the book is so unnecessarily long and lacking in action and nothing happens and is thus awful and you just want to get over it; I can't agree more.
I would select the
one of the special operatives disguising as grandmama
part, which was roughly at the 66 percent mark, as the end of said "middle section" of the book because the book's fun-ness went up and up right after that.
