This book is plot/adventure heavy. A strong romance but I wouldn't say it's constant. They spend a lot of this book apart for one thing. Abel is strong, smart and resilient. I loved her. She was very hesitant to have feelings, to hope in such a dark world. She was in survival mode and was just trying to do her best. She does fight a lot, but she takes her odds into account and I appreciate that. She is a well rounded character who is easy to understand and like.

Kane is possessive, sweet and understanding. He doesn't fall for her instantly but when he does fall it is an instant shift.

The world building was good and the world very dark. It was weird to suddenly jump into Kane's home. It took away from the dystopia feel for a while before Abel was forced back out.

I liked Mikey. I wasn't 100 percent invested in the main couple so he was an entertaining distraction. Also the blood scene with him might have awakened something in me?? I really enjoyed their relationship.
