Havenfall by Sara Holland
Did not finish book.
2.0
Admittedly, I DNF'ed Havenfall. I reached 85 pages in, mid-chapter, and realized that I just wasn't interested.
I think the writing style got to me. I wasn't fond of the description-heavy and repetitive nature of Holland's writing, even though it was written well. The first few chapters were slow-paced. The first bit of action didn't happen until Chapter 6.
After that bit of action, things settled back down to the slow-paced nature it was before. I've read some slow-moving stories before, but this one doesn't pick up. Chapter 6 was like a spike of life before settling back down, instead of using that action to propel us forward... if that makes sense.
I felt the plot was kind of weak and I didn't feel connected to the characters at all. I actually found our main character a little annoying, which is never a good sign.
