A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee
3.0
The twist caught me off guard and I was intrigued by it’s implications on the rest of the story especially in comparison to how other books in this genre usually handle themselves. the set up for it fell flat though and left me frustrated with the portrayal of Ellis as it lacked cohesion.
despite the entire story revolving around Ellis and Felicity’s relationship it felt shallow. Even though they both were clearly into each other it would’ve done some good to explain it better especially as it got more toxic and not this weird instant obsession because why not.
i still really had a fun time reading it though and found Felicity’s character really interesting, except for the weird times where racism, or mental health, or like what it means to not like life as a pretty rich white girl meant. it felt like it was added to the story for the sake of t and didn’t actually bother to explore broader themes and the privilege she carries.
