5/5 stars. I absolutely loved this wild ride of a book.
This novel features incredible world building, diverse characters, as well as interesting enemies and villains.
The entire time I was reading this novel I was fascinated by Benji’s character and how he was able to grow and discover more of himself throughout. I also loved how although Benji is a transgender boy, he didn’t necessarily want gender reassignment surgery, or top surgery, and only thought about it in order for him to feel more accepted by others, not by himself. I loved the conversations about what makes a person transgender, whether you have body dysmorphia or not.
The cast of characters was very diverse and there were incredible dynamics and relationships, romantic or platonic, between all of them.
• Benjamin/Benji - MC: Transgender, Gay, He/Him
• Nick - LI: Gay, Autistic, He/Him
• Erin - SC: Transgender, She/Her, Black (I could be thinking of a different character, since I read this over a month ago, but if my memory is correct, Erin is black. Correct me if I’m wrong).
• Salvador/Sal - SC: Transgender, Xe/Xem
• POC SCs & other Gay, Transgender, Lesbian, etc. SCs
