Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

  • Strong character development? Yes
  • Loveable characters? Yes

4.5

This is so good! I’ve been wanting to read this since it came out and it did not disappoint. I was hooked from the very start.

Boulley does a great job developing characters, developing the story, and working in cultural history and knowledge. I feel like even the bastard characters annoy me as much as they might have in a different book. She even has a few twists that I didn’t see coming. I won’t reveal anything though.

I am disappointed how things go with Daunis and Jamie, but it makes sense. I appreciate characters making healthy choices for themselves when I know I wouldn’t have made the healthy choice.

I have no idea what book two is about, and I’m OK with that for now, but I am excited to read it.
