A Lesson in Vengeance
by Victoria Lee
2.5 stars
This book perfectly creates the creepy, spooky, chilling atmosphere promised from the description, which is enhanced by the unreliability of the narrator and the intriguing history given for the school. But I found the plot far too slow to keep me engaged. The last 10% is gripping, but the rest of the book was tedious to read. The characters felt too unrealistic for me to feel invested in their lives and the main "twist" in the plot was very predictable, which dampened the ending slightly.
Also, the epilogue makes references to the English building at Imperial College in London. Imperial College London is a science university and doesn't offer any English courses, so I don't know if this was poorly researched or what?
