It's so unfortunate that this book is a victim of q publisher trying to rush a sequel out while riding the high of the previous one and therefore not dedicating the necessary time to editing. While it doesn't detract from my enjoyment, seeing such blatant typos and errors feels vexing, because it's such a choice to favor profits and expedite a book as quickly as possible than take the time to be thorough.

Regardless, I still enjoyed this. I was so hoping Ione would be a much bigger player and I'm so delighted to be proven right, though tbh I feel like I could have done with more of her and Elspeth. The ending feels like it was nipped a bit, and to some degree, I get it -- ultimately this book was about the Twin Alders quest and trying to complete their goal, but I still feel like the ending could have given us a little MORE. Or a short story or anything? Please I just want more of them! Ione and Elm was a welcome sight, though, and one very deserved by both.

This duology is exactly the kind of fantasy I favor, for sure - the magic and rich history, the lore so woven into it, such an intricate part of the story, nothing overtly complex and convoluted for the sake of it. It has that same feeling that  The Near Witch gave me, and if I can figure out what that is, it would really help me with finding more books!
