dmoles845 's review for:
American Royals
by Katharine McGee
Loved this book and thoroughly enjoyed the characters. I flew this and never would have guessed it was close to 450 pages, it was such an intriguing read. I loved the idea of an American royal family; for me, it made clear how ridiculous the modern monarchy really is.
I loved the strong women in this book and how well the men complemented them. (Samantha was by far my favorite.) I even enjoyed the characters you were supposed to dislike, because they were so well-developed and relatable.
My one critique (if I had to find one) was the description/appearance of Daphne. As a redhead myself, I feel like the redheaded “villain” is SO tired. I think using the hair color as a symbol of aggression, evil-natured attitude is a stale cliche at this point.
Can’t wait to read the second in this series, and looking forward to more after that!
