Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins

4.25

I guess it's a bit of an unpopular opinion for me to enjoy this book as much as I did, but I had such a good time listening to this on audiobook. However, I can see how if I read this physically, I may not feel the same way. It was entertaining during my commutes for work this week and while cooking dinner - both tasks I hate so I welcomed this story to distract me, and I always was excited to pick it back up which I credit to Hawkins' writing. Her writing along with the narration really brought this story to life for me.

I would not consider this book to be particularly "thrilling" though. Nothing much happens for a large portion of the book (60% or so) but I enjoyed the island vibes - did expect it to feel a bit more disserted so I guess that was a letdown. I also enjoyed the somewhat "good for her but a bit unhinged" vibes too.

Anyways, not much to say other than this was perfect for the season - the setting, simplicity of Hawkins' writing and a bit of 'eat the rich' feel. Perfect for soaking up the sun with a lil' drink in hand.
