This was a fabulous book! I’m so glad I finally got around to reading it. And I took my time because King did such a great job at drawing me into the story he created, I needed breaks!
It was bleak, upsetting, and depressing. The eeriness in the beginning half as people were dying from the virus so quickly and everyone was in dark of what was actually happening and why. The complexity of people’s reactions to the new world they found themselves in. The atrocities people would do to others when they know no one will hold them accountable. Though there were moments in which the good of humanity shined, all the rest was rough.
There were so many characters that I thought I was going to have a hard time keeping track of who was who. But the characters were so well written and developed (even the despicable ones), I didn’t find it to be an issue. Nick and Tom were definitely my favorite! But my goodness, I found Fannie so annoying! But she was pregnant (hormones?), so I forgive it lol!
I remember watching the miniseries from the 90’s as a kid but very vaguely so I glad it didn’t spoil anything for me.

“The beauty of religious mania is that it has the power to explain everything. Once God (or Satan) is accepted as the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, nothing is left to chance...logic can be happily tossed out the window.”
“His name is Legion. He is the king of nowhere.”
