Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka
5.0

the writing of this book is so captivating, the structure of the story is engaging as well. the characters themselves are nothing extraordinary but that emboldens the messaging of this book. it hones in on how violence and crime are (usually) cycles that will never be reformed through actual solutions (mental health services, basic needs being met, comprehensive / accessible healthcare, etc.) because of how profitable it is to incarcerate people - regardless of how it (crime x violence) literally harms every single person (especially women, and women of color)
