Well-written with a storyline and structure that really propels the reader forward, but I don't know that it added any particular insight to the topic of serial killers.  And at this point, I think there's an argument to be made that serial killer literature (or series, movie, etc.) without something new to say could just be glorifying/exploiting our fascination with serial killers.
