Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
I entered a reading slump for a good month or two, and at least a small part of it was because I was not looking forward to continuing this book. (Also seasonal depression and life getting in the way, but, you know)

I was really excited about this book when I first heard about it in 2022, it hit all my buzzwords that I love. I was so excited to read it once I could borrow it from the library.

I'm glad I didn't buy it, it was so disappointing for me. Mainly my problem was the relationship development (or lack thereof) of our two love interests. It felt like it was moving much too quickly, there was barely any time at all for the two to start feeling attraction to each other.

In my mind, ideally the two of them would barely stand being in the same room as each other and not care about each other in the slightest until AT LEAST a third of the way through, halfway would be even better. Instead it was at like the 10% mark when "hints" of potential romantic feelings were already being dropped.

I can understand other people enjoying it, it was just too fast moving for my taste. There was an attempt at building atmosphere and general world-building, but I've read other books that pulled it off way better than this.

I'd give it 2⭐ if I had to rate it
