What Beauty There Is by Cory Anderson

5.0

*audiobook* This is a heavy one. I definitely don’t recommend it if you’re not ready for something heavy and intensely sad from page one. I really enjoyed the writing style. It’s kind of vague or dream-like. There isn’t specifics of the dates, locations etc. but you can kind of figure things out based on small details. I work in public education, so these types of stories with kids/teens struggling to eat or just survive breaks my heart in a special way. I also really enjoyed the brief but powerful blurbs of Ava’s thoughts. I don’t think the story could work without them, even thought they’re only little tidbits. I will definitely be checking out any of Cory’s other writing.
