gonna be thinking about this book for a very long time

oh my god, wow. that was beautiful.

I’m a little bit of a loss for words here—i read this a lot more slowly than i normally do, moreso because i kept rereading passages over and over again because they were so haunting. i don’t know why I’ve put off reading sirens & muses for this long, but i definitely wish I’d read this earlier.

it’s all at once eerie, enthralling, and utterly gorgeous; prose that lingers idly in your brain, the kind that conjures up imagery. This is a book revealing of politics within the art world (a world I’m not familiar with, to be honest), but moreso on intimacy. The kind we learn, whether in fucked up or healthy childhood; the kind we exhibit, and the degree we’re capable of submitting ourselves to. This book is vivid as it is lush and beautifully repulsive. I am not an artist by trade, dabbling in drawing only as a mere hobbyist, but this filled my hands with the uncontrollable itch to create. To say i was moved would be a complete understatement.

My full review stack is exceeding the bounds of my capabilities, but i will make one for this book—i need to. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
