I'm struggling with this book's pacing and find it hard to be invested in the characters. While I think this book had a lot of promise in exploring the clashings of religion, politics, and prejudice, it struggles to really hit its stride in making its points because it tries to do too much. The main character's inner monologue has a lot of repetition, making the story drag.
