As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh

5.0

This book is heatbreaking and gut-wrenching all the while uplifting and magnificent. Zoulfa Katouh has created a masterpiece of a debut novel.

I don't think I'm prepared for the chokehold this book will have on me. I will be the first one to admit my naivety and the fact that I didn't know this was even happening in the real world (don't come for me, I've lived a life sheltered and I'm trying to diversify my life). I am embarrassed to admit that I had to google the time period this book took place in since it was referrencing modern technology. Even though this is fiction, the book has opened my eyes to our current world happenings, and I will forever be grateful for that. Zoulfa has created a work of art, and I will forever be in awe by this book.
