Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin
4.0

The sequel to Serpent & Dove does not disappoint! The story picks up after Lou and Reid flee from Lou’s mother and her coven. After the reveal in the last book of shocking identities everyone is feeling a little bit shaken up. Reid is struggling to understand who his parents are and what that means for him. The themes of forbidden love, good vs evil, religion, and magic flow flawlessly throughout the book. Rounded out with a love triangle with Coco at the center- this book is a gripping second novel for Shelby Mahurin. Be warned: this book contains more death, hardship, and sadness than the first. Mahurin balances it out with comedy, specifically of the pub songs variety. Anyone who is a YA/ adult fantasy fan should check this book out ASAP. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, Gods & Monsters-- out next year.
