A History of My Brief Body by Billy-Ray Belcourt

Did not finish book. Stopped at 50%.
I may or may not come back to this as I've listened to the audiobook and wanted to give the text a chance to see if I got on with it any better than the audiobook. If I dissected this academically, I'm sure that I would find something that made the wandering diatribes feel more cohesive, but without doing so it comes across as assuming facts not in evidence. He uses jargon, references philosophers, and academics, and assumes that the reader will know who they are and what the reference is to. I understand it, but I'm not in a classroom and I'm still trying to figure out who his target audience is.
