Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

4.0

I get what the hype was about….

My best friend is from Canada and plays hockey with the best of the boys. She often talks about the res and natives so this book felt so real to me.

Daunis has always made a name for herself on the ice. When she meets Jamie in her brothers hockey team, she thinks things are too good to be true. She’s right. Lies, a murder, and a town with a drug problem come to light and Daunis finds herself in the middle of it all.

I loved the writing, the authenticity, and the family and cultural bonds. This story was part educational, part romance, part mystery, and a whole lot of personal growth.

Definitely add this to your list if you were sleeping on it like me!
