It’s a beautiful book with beautiful writing too. I loved many aspects of it. However, it was far less thrilling and intriguing than I thought it would be. The unanswered questions about the miniaturist left me dissapointed and wondering what the point of reading this was, and this is coming from someone who loves character-driven ‘nothing happens’ type of books. It seemed as if the author set up and interesting mystery just to forget about it later on.
