As with any story that examines oppression, this is really dark in parts. But it also has joy and found family. Without the plot being the same at all it reminds me of Hunger Games. It's the same kind of dark brutal story full of action and heart. There are no love triangles and the romance plot is more of a found family thing. It's very much a story about patriarchy.
If you don't mind that it's dark, it's still worth a read.
