Me (Moth) by Amber McBride

Enjoyable but a tad on the nose with the message to live and all that good stuff. Good poetic writing but also like those are teenagers they don’t need to say philosophical stuff every sentence let them chill. I felt like it was a bit too fast paced at times and it could’ve been executed better but it’s still a worthwhile read.

Babar marries his little cousin, westernizes his community (and that’s seen as a good thing), and the death of his mother is just not looked back on.

Super cute book with a really good message! I’m really glad this exists and I was really happy to see the diversity in the illustrations.

This was a good anthology which I enjoyed with consistently good stories (not a single one I disliked) and really good writing for most of them. Some of the writing styles felt a bit eh and on occasion the ending might’ve been rushed but it’s still absolutely worth a read and I will be checking more of these authors out.

This was genuinely terrifying in the best way possible. The characters felt very real and I really enjoyed the writing style. The suspense was great and I couldn’t put this down. The plot twist build up was great. I loved the way information was revealed at just the right moments that left you wanting for more, just really good pacing.

I didn't know much about this book going in and I came with no expectations. It surprised me in many ways and I don't think I would've chosen it had I known the synopsis or plot beforehand but I'm glad I did read it. It's beautifully written and captures well the emotions and feelings of the character. The book is very character based and I don't often go for that but I thought it was very well executed here, it's a stunning portrait of a person and those around her; I could truly imagine Marin being a real girl. The writing was beautiful and poetic and the descriptions will stay in my head for a long time, particularly of the beach scene. It reminded me of The Sea Is Salt and So Am I (although I heavily prefer this to that) in terms of mood and writing style. I loved the characterizing of Marin and Mabel in the little things they did like Jane Eyre and nail polish and their plans and I found that to be very truthful to the experience of human connection. The character development was also phenomenal and well written. I thought the message was executed well and not too 'in your face' and I think that while this book may not be for those who enjoyed fast paced and plot driven works it is worth reading and I did take something away from the experience of reading it.

This was a cute sort of quick read that I personally enjoyed. I liked the fish out of water concept and the unique way of telling some of the story through vlogs. It had a lovable cast of characters and a fluffy storyline that works well with it's heavier/deeper themes.

While I did for the most part enjoy this book it felt repetitive at times and it took quite a while for it to actually get going. Allison and Vi's friendship and some characters felt a bit one dimensional at times and some of the deaths were just eh. I did however enjoy the ending particularly the 'found family' they had. I also liked Zombie Brian and Paul's arc.
