Fluent Python: Clear, Concise, and Effective Programming by Luciano Ramalho
5.0
finally read this cover to cover (only took me two years!). a couple of things:
Python is a beautiful language. as this book notes, it’s easy for beginners and practical for professionals. the language has insane depth and capability while maintaining its simplistic and predictable syntax/design in even its more obscure components (and without preferring consistency too much over usability).
the book itself is really well written. it does a very good job of covering a very wide variety of more intermediate topics with real-world examples. as someone with a pretty decent amount of experience in python, it was nice to read something less targeted towards beginners.
now if only I could convince myself to actually really do something with this knowledge haha :/

the descriptions of how characters arrive at the feelings they feel are pretty darn phenomenal. the ending made a lot of sense as well even though I somehow didn’t predict it. so many great characters all in all
Watership Down by Richard Adams

what a classic
the plot is just so coherent. there's no deus ex machina and the rabbits all have their own distinct personalities and grow in their capabilities without anything being explicitly pointed out by the author as so many books seem to do.
and the bunnies' stories which they tell each other are really quite spectacular in their own right.
spoilers below:
still a grand story and setting altogether

while some rabbits certainly resolved to die fighting for their cause, I wish some of the main rabbits would have actually died. The fact that everyone more-or-less recovered in the end sort of took away from the impact of their decisions.still a grand story and setting altogether
