CONTENT WARNING: sexual assault, explicit sex scenes
So this was cute, I liked how the romance was kind of hate to love? But now I just need them to be in love. Beware there is that strange line of consent that many BL mangas seem to walk. The whole no I don’t want to but in reality I do and I’m playing hard to get but when someone says no, it means no? So that bothered me. There’s no grey area here people.
Also possible spoiler so I’ll hide it (I don’t really think it’s a spoiler though because it’s classified as BL)

The non-romance plot was interesting too! I just hope it doesn’t over complicate the next volumes.
I do think that the other volumes will be better with everything I have mentioned above. At the end we received some non-questionable consent so I definitely enjoyed that. And I’m hoping the relationship will develop more.

but when character X confesses his feelings to character Y and character Y has been talking about these feeling up until this point. But then all of a sudden character Y is completely against the idea and wants nothing to do with character XThe non-romance plot was interesting too! Okay, now that I’ve talked this book through with another human being I’m lowering my rating from a 4 to a 3. This book just didn’t live up to the first one for me. The beginning is basically a summary of the first book. There were introductions of new characters who didn’t seem to actually have much importance. And there wasn’t really a huge mystery to begin with. It just feels like the mystery from truly devious is wrapped up and we introduce another mystery? Also, the ending was disappointing. The events leading up the ending where good, but where the book actually stops was frustrating.
The book might make sense in the whole series and I’m excited for book 3. But overall this was just disappointing for me. It really felt like a filler book and I’m just not okay with that. 🤷🏻♀️
