I loved this remix !! Oliver's dysphoria was very relatable. Everyone thinking Darcy is sexist but him just being gay XD. There were some historical aspects about queer safehouses that's really interesting. It was a very fast read, I finised it in one night! just as a note, I listened to the author's note and the author says they couldn't find any cases of trans guys inheriting estates, when that actually did happen! I've heard of the case of Ewan Forbes I think his name is, never read the book on it but I want to. Idk when it was published though so maybe the author just didn't know?
Least favourite of the series so far, mostly because of how annoying Cress is... I mean I get it, she's immature and childish because she was in a satellite her ENTIRE LIFE and used for experiments and stuff, but she still fell a little flat for me compared to the other characters. Im just not a fan of the whole "damsel in distress" troupe. Still, I do think she was a well fleshed-out character with some funny moments, and we do get to follow other perspectives as well.
I liked Thorne as an individual character, but not for her. Their romance didn't make any sense to me and I was actually rooting for them to NOT get together.
and we spent so much time in the dessert. I mean, I get its part of the OG fairytale but it definitely couldve been cut down a few chapters.
Yippee, we get to see a bit of Winter in this book too! I can tell she'sgoing to be an interesting character from her depiction here ^^
I also really love the plot, the writing style I can't wait to see Levana get taken down !!
WHAT!?!? This story had so many twist, especially at the end that I didn't expect, and that also made sense. Enjoyed the writing style, the atmospheric tension that mirrored the plot. So good!!!

Ok. I have thoughts. Alot of them. Let me start out by saying that I have not read this book in years (and I was 11), but recently a booktuber I follow started reading this series. Alot of memories were dredged up, and I just need to rant. So here it is.
I love Marrisa Meyer's writing style. It's easy to read and fun, yet emmersive. I love the worldbuilding in this series. Wich is exactly why I was so dissatisfied by this ending.
SPOILER ALERT! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK~
Ok, so as expected, Nova ends up joining the Renegades. I saw that coming from a mile away- it's how it was handled that fristrated me. It is stated in this book from Nova's point of veiw how the the Council live in luxury mansions while the people live in delapidated houses and apartments, food is understandably scarce and the citezens struggle in day-to-day life. Yet the Council builds statues to themselves, has elaborate parades and prioritizes entertainment and distracting their citizens from the conditions they are in rather than helping to solve the problem. The legal system in this world confuses me as well, as while the Renegades act as law enforcment, who is their governing body? Who are their judges, their lawyers, who creates their laws? All of this matters because the Anarchists destroyed all of the government structures, and the Renegades are the only ones doing anything about that. I don't think we have any checks and balances or ways for the people to bring up laws. All of this would be fine of Nova adressed these issues as a prized member of the Renegades. She now has the power and authority to bring these things up, right? But no. Now it's revealed how wrong the Anarchists were in some areas, suddenly all criticism of the Renegades loose meaning? I can't accept that. I think this story would've been so much better if Nova, now on the Renegades side would work to change their organisation from within, doing things like working with the citizens of Gatlon City and helping the Renegades establish boundaries and better governing systems. I don't remember if agent N was adressed, but the Renegades should also have to admit what was going on with that was wrong. Also WHAT WAS UP W THE WHOLE PHOBIA REVEAL? It didn't make any sense whatsoever... ???? *sighs* I'm sure there are other things to comment on, as I said I haven't read this recently but that aspect is really what stuck with me.
I read this years ago for school and I mostly remember feeling sad. For the zombie-creature-being or whatever they are, for dr. Frankenstein, just sad. Not in a bad way, but in a way that makes me think more than about the plot or characters but about society and humanity.
It was a bit jarring at first to be in a different character's head because I could only care about what was happening with Cinder, but once I got her POV I got invested in all the characters more.
Love the plot, love the worldbuilding, the politics, the mystery, Thorne and Iko are hilarious, I feel bad for Kia, I enjoyed the relatively frequent POV shifts, I absolutely despise Lavana (is that how u spell it?) and the audio for this series is epic!... now when it comes to Scarlet and Wolf, I will just say my feelings towards them are a bit complicated. Did Scarlet put way too much trust in a wolf dude she just met? Definitely. Still, I think it's a creative take on the fairytale with aspects of both Cinder's story and little red riding hood subtlety (but not too subtlely) woven throught the story in ways I didn't expect. I love Meyer's writing style, the pacing was near perfect exept for that part in the beginning where all I could think was WHERE'S CINDER!?!?
Overall, it was well written, fun, comical at times in the best way :3

WOW. I LOVED THIS SM. I think this is the best book I read this year! I just finished it so I need time to sit with my thoughts before I write an actual review.
(This is a re-read) Thoroughly enjoyed. The plot was kinda flimsy (seriously bro just teleport back in time to get plauge meds) but there was lots of action and I just find the main character funny. I learned alot the first time I read this, and it catapulted me into my mideval-history-fascination era. This time it mostly reminded me of stuff. I applaud the historical accuracy, though I have questions about the whole time travel thing.
DNF because I wasn't invested. I don't track my page/minute number on here, that's why it says 0%. I read almost half the book though. I got to the part where the main girl escaped from slavery- that was the only thing I cared about seeing.
After that the plot felt very thin, and it didn't seem like there was character development on the horizon either. I like the magic system and was curious about how it would develop the story, the history of how it all began, the limitations, ect. I like the post-apocalyptic setting, and the snowy, cold atmosphere (I love winter). I wanted to like this story as much as I like the concept.
However, I don't care about the plot. The writing style definitely wasn't for me. The guy POV bugged me alot. There was barley any action, and the action that was there was kinda boring to me (that was a surprise because I never read a boring action scene before). I read some reviews and decided it wasn't worth trudging through a book I wasn't intrested in. Props to the atmosphere though, that was my favourite part.
