Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas

the fmc is not a pick me like the other two, but the mmc is. i literally forget the last time i read such a pick me guy. damon torrance, the reason i started this series, is def an “i’m not like other guys” guy, when he is exactly like every other guy. i also don’t get how he thinks that if the fmc dresses non-modestly, he’d be like “let her wear whatever she wants, if anyone looks at her the wrong way then it’s their fault” and if his sister or any other women does it he’s like “women should protect themselves blah blah” like could you please respect other women too lmfao man thinks the world is beneath his holy feet. you ain’t shit damon and that being said, i was hoping to finish the series going crazy over these characters but needless to say i’m highly disappointed. either bad characters or bad writing OR BOTH. i’m just not in the mood to waste my time on some shitty “dark romance” series.

after seeing no good development in this third book, i wont be finishing the series cuz wtf. even if the characters ain’t shitty, the writing style and over-explaining and annoying songs playing scenes would make me give the series no more than two stars. maybe this really isn’t for me, or maybe i hoped too much from people saying it’s a “dark romance” when it’s just a bunch of entitled little shits pulling pranks and getting trauma from their own doings.

this is my second penelope douglas book and im not sure if the author writes characters who hate women or what…. i started the series for damon but all this time all i got is a fucking headache from how 1) the fmcs are fucking pick-mes, in the first book and this one, alex should’ve been THE girl but they make it look like she’s the additional girl. and for what? bc the fmcs don’t know their bodies’ potentials and alex does? 2) the mmcs love manhandling so much that they basically have no respect to the fmcs, cuz they’re stronger and its always brawn over brain 💪 you go boys (rot in fucking hell). 3) i really don’t like romances in books that aren’t “once in a lifetime” typa shit. i mean it. i don’t want reading about mmcs still having their eyes on other women a few months away from marriage. and when the fmcs get get angry, they call it off as a joke. 4) so… since damon hates women a lot and blame it on (apparently) his trauma… fuck you bitch. 5) even kai the “sophisticated” dude of the gang isn’t THAT great like the edits say. the only reason i will skip to the third book - damon’s book - is bc i’ve gone this far. but if any of these guys do anything funny….

could’ve been shorter. this is my first penelope douglas book and i started the series mainly for damon torrance’s book. but ig i’m disappointed in this one because 
1) i don’t get why people go crazy for these vindictive college boys.
2) damon, i want to like you and you’re the main reason i started this series, but why tf you acting like a fucking rabid dog
3) the fmc has a mentality of a little kid with personality issues. one time she’d be like “why does he hate me” and then “oh fuck him i don’t want to play for his game anymore” and then “can’t he just love me back please” the various times she can’t even sense danger alone is concerning
4) the mmc has chronic communication issues. next time learn to fix your shit without your friends help dude. mf for real cannot talk with the fmc without manhandling her
5) again, i still don’t get the four horsemen trend. i thought it’d be like royal elite’s four horsemen and i was SO excited. disappointing but i’ll continue the book for damon’s sake. let’s hope he fucking grows and stop acting like a silly big ohsointimidating bitch

read this in one sitting omg !!! less than 24 hours ago i told myself “dark romance has been boring af lately” but again, it’s me who didn’t find a great dark romance sooner! hd carlton has always been a favorite dark romance author of mine. at first i confused molly with sibby lol and was a bit surprised that it’s a novella. however, as much as i wish it was longer, it didn’t disappoint at all! they mcs were SO hot they rivaled zadeline, and at one point i couldn’t stop underlining the mmc’s lines, i swear if he ever tells me to kms i’d do it. i hope that this isn’t the end and we get to see more of molly and cage AND ZADELINE
