i cried almost all the way through because of hassan's character and then later on sohrab. such a heartbreaking story, and amir was very difficult for me to love. still, i was fascinated by his portrayal and his relationship with his father. i wish the book didn't end so soon though, because i would have liked to see amir, soraya and sohrab's relationship evolve.

this was so disappointing... the more chloe gong i read, the more i realize her characters aren't characters, they're just tropes and snappy lines that look good in edits and are boring and predictable as hell in books. i liked the ending plottwist and the overall fantasy aspect but i don't think i'll give a chance to the second book.
