this book is very different to any of colleen hoovers books, at least the ones that i've read. throughout this book my heart just ached for quinn and graham, rather than in it ends with us, ugly love and november nine where there was a distinct moment where my heart dropped and was like an oh no moment.
i mean there was this moment definitely when graham cheated with andrea my heart did break, however i mean that all throughout the book my heart just hurt for the characters

i actually really loved this book, i read it in a day, and it really was a book that managed to make me remember very clearly how much i have missed just being indulged in a book (due to being busy with exam season and not reading in a month or so really amplified that.)
i loved the dual pov with the then and now, i really think that makes you want to read the book quicker as you see two different perspectives and the juxtaposition of their relationship dynamics over the years and how an issue such as - potential spoiler although it does get revealed quickly?
infertility can really break a relationship

i went into this book with no knowledge of what it contained, and i'm glad i did. i will say i doubt a coho book will ever be one of my all time favourites but i will say in the moment colleen really knows how to structure a story that will keep you hooked and just let you get lost for a few hours!

i wish i couldve read this book in a shorter amount of time as i feel i didnt get to fully indulge in it due to school life, i really loved this book.
the whole family dynamic and seeing them grow as sisters was something i loved reading about, plus their love of gilmore girls made me love them even more, so brownie points for that.
also i loved how real they felt to me, they seemed like real, geniune, flawed people thats i could connect to on a deeper emotional level.
and the TITLE it just made me love the book even more when i found out what it really meant, "Jayne and June are East Asian, and they’ve had so many moments of dissonance and dissociation in the white gaze or white monocultures so it partly signifies yellowness awash in a sea of white. But it’s also a small acknowledgement around my struggles with an eating disorder where for years I never ate egg yolks because food was a moral issue and egg whites were pious and good and yolks were forbidden until I became “perfect.” Fertility and motherhood and my own questions around whether or not I want children is also a theme." - just wow.
the only things that i can fault are that at first starts off a bit a slow, but then it picks up, and the ending was a bit disappointing just because i really want to know more, literally the first thing i did was search up whether there was going to be a sequel.
but overall was such a good read for me.

i've been contemplating getting this book for so long and im so glad i did at the time i did now, its two months before my gcses and i think that the way this book was so fast and easy to read really gave me that push.
as much as it didnt really inform me of anything that i didnt know (lets just say ive watched a lot of study youtube videos) however it did give me that kick and flipped that switch like wait, i care so so much about these exams i need to do something.
Ive been procrastinating so badly recently but at the same time stressing that i'm not doing anything, reading this book made me realise if i dont start now i will regret it so much in the future and the results i will get will not be what i want.
because of the fact that this book was so accessible, i'm giving it 4 stars however i wouldnt recommend this to anyone above sixth form 100%.
this book would be amazing for someone who doesnt even know where to start, but because i've watched so many of jade's videos i knew most of the information, but it was still so motivating!! loved it!

4.5

I think I have realised how I cannot rate books, I find it so so difficult to rate them so with this book I'm asking is it a 4.75 or a 5, I'm going to give it a five however if my mind changes then there you go.
I have read many thrillers and this one, for me personally, did not have a predictable ending which I loved - the way the story was told, how we did not know who to trust, i was coming up with my own theories and let me tell you
i did not suspect the NARRATOR, theo, to be the stalker, as i thought that kathy was cheating at him in the present rather than the past, unless i misread something, but wow. also, i thought that out of all the people theo was the most reliable person, i was suspecting diomendes??? (i cant remember how you spell his name) at one point because i just did not know who to pin it on or what actually happened.

after i finished the book i went back and re-read a chapter just to get it into my brain what was going on and i personally loved this book, it was a great thriller and would 100% recommend.
- edit: i changed it to 4.5 because im way too indecisive :)

previously, i have enjoyed sophie mckenzies books, when i was younger, so when i saw this was coming out i bought it thinking why not.
i didnt realise how short it would be, its 99 pages long with very large writing and nothing really happens, its described as a thriller, i mean for younger kids for like 9-12 year olds yes maybe, but not what i was expecting at all.
i mean its my fault for picking up a literal childrens book but at least it was a quick read which i read in 40 minutes or so.
