DNF’d at about 40%.
There was way to much explaining and monologues the repeated them selves.
Barely any dialogue, and the plot wasn’t good enough to get past the mediocre writing.

I expected a lot coming from reading Amie’s book with Jay Kristoff but was greatly disappointed

DNF’d around 100 or so pages.

For a fantasy book I expect something to have happened that in the very least hints at the progression of the story.
But that’s not what you get.

There are way to many PoVs for one thing. If you do multiple POVs you have to at least have their stories link up enough with a certain common goal or destination, SOMETHING for it to flow/ to make them necessary. But again. That’s not the case.

Only one POV was even likeable, to be honest. Some of the side characters were so unbearable I wanted to skip right over the chapters they were in. And to be honest the only reason this was YA is cause it had swearing and talked about “private parts”

It read and felt like a rushed middle grade book.

Not for me. I really wanted to like this book but I just can’t.

Oh. My. God.

What just happened? What did I just read?

I am honestly speechless. The Wicked King is just as dark and wicked as the first book, but yet some how even better.

Just when you think you know how everything is going to go, Holly Black takes you on a ride in a whole other direction.

I did NOT see that ending coming.

Excise me while I go sit in a pool of my own tears
