love the idea and love the execution! the character’s mental health was something that they explored and i loved how normalised it was.

super fun read, the authors love for the characters and their setting permeated their writing, making it feel intimate and comfortable. shara and chloe as a couple was a bit lacking though.

the love interest had a weird fixation on her vagina and it was full of gender essentialism, in the constant references to her vagina as ‘her femininity’ and him general being described as masculine and male and it was weird

enjoyable and interesting, nora's growth and motivations were understandable and compelling. overall, it was a story about not letting your abusers define you, and one that was poignant, with beautiful writing as a bonus.

january's grief was a third main character and was handled in a beautifully. the relationship felt deliberate, as in, they chose each other despite everything. a great story about moving on, and grieving, with a romance sprinkled in.

for a book that’s about abuse, this book felt soulless. maybe it was due to the length of the book, but it felt like the author was trying to fit too much in there. atlas and lily's supposed connection was uncompelling, and ryle and lily’s love story was unconvincing. it says something when the authors note affected me more than the contents of the book itself. overall, the writing also felt juvenile. would not recommend.
