Going to be honest this book put me to bed MANY nights. It read like a textbook, so it wasn’t a page turner hutni did learn alot I didn’t know… so a different sort of book for me. Not mad about it but for how short it was I thought I’d e able to breeze through it. I was WRONG.
Thoughts:
- This book is making me feel like Foxface from THG and that’s everything to me
- Not sure if I agree with her theory that “science itself has becoming infected by corporate capitalism”… I see where her head is at, but I also think that if science is not truly tested, especially in medicine it can’t be conclusive. A headache is one thing, but cancer is something entirely different
- She thinks Moses made air breathable for animals and plants and started the process of creating soil?? Not sure how reliable this narration is.
- I am learning stuff about plants I never knew before
- There are so many words I don’t know and the context clues does not help 😭
- “We each have our own journey, and we are each are called to find and live our own truth.”
- This book just made me want a pant cook book with all the medicinal properties in each plant…

Overall the beginning was VERY slow, but once it picked up it was SO good. I enjoyed this book so much more than the first. I think it was because it was more action packed and less sciencey? Like don’t get me wrong the beginning had its times where there was too much jargon and it went right over my head. I was totally zoning out, but the end had me on the edge of my seat! Surprisingly Really enjoyed.

Overall it was really cool and interesting how all the mini stories related. Gave me CreepyPasta or Chillas art games vibes.

- The book was shorter but packed so much in!
- This gives such creepy vibes 👌
- Made me really think and wonder how things related and definitely shocked me at points but other things were more predictable
- Was waiting for it to actually frighten me but that never happened

This book was kinda all over the place flashing back and forth between present and past, but I think they did it on purpose to show the shear wildness of Allen. The flashbacks to the war time was so fucking boring to me, but it was made up by the flash forwards to the present and the insane situation he got himself into… when all he wanted was a bottle of vodka for his 100th birthday.
Some of my fave moments included:
- Allen walloping a guy 1/4 his age with a plank
- Allen & Julius’ friendship
- Benny & the beauty’s romance
- Allen accidentally killing someone with explosives

Thoughts:
Wade seriously is so immature and he doesn’t think about consequences of his actions AT ALL. The book is initially kinda boring compared to the original work. The first 3 hours of the book was just a summary of the after effects of the first book which is kinda annoying. But it had its cool moments like being able to live through movies… I was just thinking about me being in twilight or pride and prejudice <3
I totally agreed with Samantha during the entire book…
Like Wade is such a hypocrite ioi would pay people to help them through challenges in the first book, and now that he’s a billionaire he is paying people to help him find shards? the mighty has truly fallen wtf and the ‘plot twist’ is just so crazy and out of left field. I feel like they could’ve put pressure on Wade to complete the 7 shards without having like half the world as hostages in the ONI . Arty truly is my fave character in the book, her calming Wade down after his panic attacks is made me cryy
Lastly, the ending with the resurrection staff or whatever that person is immortalized with AI but what if that person doesn’t want to live forever in the oasis like it should be the persons choice… not sure if I like this. What if people don’t want to live forever like it shouldn’t be up to Wade and the high five lmao
Overall this book just felt like a downgraded version of book one- wouldn’t really recommend.
