Thoughts:
Overall I loved Chuās competitiveness, determination, and her like need to be better than what her brother could have been. Greatness is her fate because thatās what she deserves SLAYYY QUEEN!
The change in perspectives felt very abrupt, but over all I like the dimension it gave the story! I really liked Ma (the first kiss between themā¦so so cute).
The imagery Shelley was able to create is so disgustingly good like Iām grossed out at the fight scenes gore and thatās really hard to do in writing!!
Itās been extremely difficult for me to keep track of all the characters itās very similar to game of thrones where they throw them all at you and hope your remember them LOL The writing style is also very different then the normal book I usually gravitate towards so itās been hard to get into, Iāve had to listen to the audio book more than actually reading it because I need to be doing things and retaining the story

- Has an amazing hook really reeled me in

- I hate the whole Agatha taking with Finbarr and Archie with Nan ordeal like just get with your people and stay away from others like is it hard š
- Nan is crazy but likeā¦ understandably crazy with all the stuff she went through? Like I wish it wasnāt the 20s and she could be properly evaluated psychotically
- This story just kind of drags, like I find myself checking my phone every few pages to have a break, and thatās not usually the case when Iām fully immersed in a book.
- The whole prospect of the āage of disappearing womenā is so sad and sobering
Overall the book had a very slow pace, I almost preferred the flashbacks of Ireland more than the main current story line. There were some shocks but nothing too jaw dropping. Fun for bookclub, but nothing I would reread.
Best Romcom Iāve Read in a while. I wouldnāt change a thing about it. Loved every minute poured into this book & already want to reread.

Overall I love that this author wanted to base the story off of old Persian fairytales! Itās so unique, and really reflected with the Dives (pronounced deeves; meaning demon) and the Pirkis (pah-riks; meaning witches or ones with magic).
I really liked the relationship transformation between Soraya and her mother. From Soraya having resentment and distrusting her mother to the end where they would do anything for each other is really special.
Melissa really hooked me though with the leading man; all he had to do was tell her she was āhis favorite storyā and fought her longtime bullyā¦ I fell. I found myself trying to excuse his scary behavior later because he got to me in the beginning LOL. I will say the LGBTQ+ angle with Parvonee was very cute, but I couldnāt ship it in the same way </3
Final thoughts: I really liked all the twists and turns and I rode an emotional rollercoaster š
I wouldāve loved it more if it was angled at a more mature audience. I feel like this was Pg-13 but the fight scenes and a little spice wouldāve bumped my rating up a lot more. ā¤ļø
If Alex wasnāt as psychotic in the end and didnāt manipulate her so much this wouldāve been higher, I just feel like heās kinda toxic. Fun in theory but if he was real it would be bad news.

Overall I enjoyed it and the riff the author played on where she imagined the trilogy going. All of it was speculative so I gave it a lower rating for the sake of Suzanne. I donāt know if she wouldāve done exactly what the author chose, but in a general sense it was fun to imagine.

- I really love the discourse between the young man and the philosopher but idk if this book is āchanging my lifeā itās definitely more of a philosophical and psychological theory put into frame of two people discussing their views on life so itās easily digestible, not sure if thereās actually a plot or story to it, but I enjoy listening to them. Itās similar to a podcast in my eyes then a book.
- Josh Hutcherson character LOL the fact that he canāt find one thing he likes about himselfā¦ he just wants praise at this point.

Overall, I can see why this book is so popular because itās foreign and taboo and interesting, but honestly just not my cup of tea. There wasnāt really any suspense, or that feeling of being on the edge of your seat. Though I will say it was fun to read with my friends in book club.

So sheās a killer and she ends up in jail. The end. Sheās so matter of fact about everything, I have no sympathy for her. Sheās not even a morally grey character that I want to like or Iām conflicted with, sheās just a psychopath sex addict cannibal who basically admits to murder. what did she think was gonna happen? Especially going to to kill emma at the end (one of the only friends she had.) Dumb dumb. And Emma was such a good friend in general that Dorothy didnāt truly deserve her. In my opinion, Dorothyās downfall was not marrying Alex. She spirals realizing she would have to release the part of herself that was crazy to achieve happiness and just blew it for herself. Not impressed.
