Murder on the Titania and Other Steam-Powered Adventures by Alex Acks
5.0
I haven't read a lot of steampunk but this book was a blast! Acks is really good at character development and I immediately felt a part of this world. Captain Marta Ramos is someone I'd follow into any fight. Simms seems like a great drinking buddy and someone who would reluctantly accept an occasional hug. I can't wait to read Wireless now that I've picked this one up!
Wireless and More Steam-Powered Adventures by Alex Acks

I actually loved this book more than the first! There are three stories in this collection and each was fun and entertaining. I highly recommend this book if you're looking for an adventurous escape. A must-read!
Inheritance of Shadows by A.L. Lester
4.0
I really enjoyed this novella. Lester does an excellent job of describing life on a farm in the 19020s. I was really invested in the MCs. There's one shift to another character that was slightly jarring for me, but overall I enjoyed this tale. This was my introduction to the Lost in Time series and I plan to read more!
Moontangled by Stephanie Burgis

I was not familiar with this series before reading this book, but the author did a good job of getting me oriented in the Harwood world quickly. I tend to like my romances a bit spicier, but I love all things regency, so this was an entertaining read on a quiet summer Saturday morning.
Glorious Day by Skye Kilaen

I loved this book so much I read it in one setting. It has the perfect combo of romance, adventure, and politics for me. I really liked the blend of traditional royal court intrigue and modernish technology, too. I immediately identified with the MC ... and I really liked that the MC was flawed and not one of those "perfect heroes" you sometimes get in fantasy. Kilaen's a really talented author and I can't wait to read more from her!
Unhallowed by Jordan L. Hawk

This was a fun return to Widdershins and I had a great time reading it. Both of the MCs are such darlings, and I was rooting for poor, neglected Vesper throughout the book. I'm so glad these two characters found each other and I can't wait to read the next installment of their adventures! Any fan of the Widdershins books should pick this one up!
Hades by Carly Spade

I just finished this book and it was So. Much. Fun. I've always enjoyed Greek Mythology and this was a cute update to the Hades/Persephone tale in the style of the 90s TV show Charmed. There were a few scenes that felt slightly forced (eg: the MC's best friend says they're leaving on a cross-Atlantic trip the next day) and I thought Hades' southern accent was a bit silly, but overall this was a great summer read. I'm so glad I picked it up! I'm glad this is the first in a series!
Seeing Things by Sonora Taylor

A relatable coming of age story with a gory twist, I couldn't put this down! I read it in one afternoon. A great read for #spookyseason ... or any time, really!
His Lordship's Secret by Samantha SoRelle

This was so much fun. I pretty much read it in one sitting. SoRelle's main characters are likable and there was just enough intrigue to keep me turning the pages. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series!
His Lordship's Master by Samantha SoRelle

This book was the perfect mix of romance and gothic horror for me. The story is bittersweet and lovely. A fantastic continuation for His Lordship's Mysteries!
