i’d never read atwood before, but she’s easily become one of my favourite authors. i originally picked this up for the “male fantasies” quote, but soon became enamoured with atwood’s vivid prose and great talent for writing female characters. while the book can be slow at times, this is largely due to the density of the language, which still works in the book’s favour. a haunting portrait of female relationships, the robber bride is an incredible book.

probably informative if you didn't know anything about qanon and its predecessors, but won't give you a deeper look if you're already aware. also, as someone on the left-wing side of politics, giving governments control of information and discourse is an awful idea and journalists shouldn't encourage it without giving serious coverage of all the incredible harms it could do.
still, i found a few interesting things i didn't know (the full extent of scomo's involvement is crazy), it covers the australian angle in a way i've seen few books do and, if nothing else, the book is so well-sourced i found a bunch of other things to read on the topic.

Had to return it to the library, just didn't grab me like I hoped it would.
