The book begins with Tink looking for Captain Hook, her way out of that place in order to fix the wrongs she has caused.
The book has been spicy and smutty and very delicious. Even from the beginning, you’re thrown into a very sexy scene that gave me goosebumps – the good kind. I was amazed by how erotic some scenes were without feeling too smutty or dirty – they were just so perfect, the perfect amount of details, feelings, and emotions. I usually don’t focus a lot on spicy books but from time to time, like this one, I’m so surprised by the scenes.
The book is being told from different pov’s which as usual I’ve loved because It gave me so many insights from the involved characters. The magical system is based on mythical creatures and also pixie dust that can make people high – the pixie dust has some side effects too and a lot of people are searching to buy it because of its very good effects.
The book overall is action-packed, funny moments, spicy/smutty moments that will give you goosebumps and really powerful feelings. You’ve got pirates, quests on the high seas, mythical creatures like merfolk, and other creatures. I’ve really enjoyed this world and the retelling of Peter Pan but Tinker Bell’s twist.

House of Darakai by K.L. Kolarich

The book begins with the mysterious monster that knows everything around him, carrying people’s secrets and slowly approaching Dmitri’s coronation.
As usual, when comes to politics in books I struggle, not gonna lie, for me it's all talking and trying to fight the evil, or there are so many conflicts that I lose my mind from all the details - BUT, this time, the exact thing I do not particularly love in books, has attracted me to this book.
I enjoyed a lot the politics behind the story, how the House of Darakai is so corrupted that even Zaeth couldn't see it until the last moment. I loved the intrigues happening, the way everything just exploded in one single moment.
The House of Darakai - their world is wild, it's gruesome and it's also so enticing. The world-building this time has been amazing, my imagination was delighted by all the details. Also, the character growth has been amazing during this book. Zaethan has had amazing growth, from the first book to the 2nd book he has grown a lot and I loved the entire moment of him growing.
But what I loved most was the moments between Zaeth and Luscia, such a slow burn and slow enemies to lovers this was, but each moment was just culminating to the best moments. Their moments gave me all the feels and I've enjoyed each minute.
The magic system it's definitely strange and unique, something that even Luscia can't understand, so I hope it will be developed more along the way because I'm really curious what's all that new power. There might also be a love triangle happening - which in this book just feels natural and right in tune with the story so what's gonna happen, we do not know yet but I'm definitely excited!!
The ending was such a perfect one, it didn’t end into a cliffhanger but definitely leaves the door open for more things to be explored. I’m really curious about what the next book will bring and what adventure we’re embarking on.

When Wishes Bleed by Casey L. Bond

The book began pretty darkly with witches and their ceremonies and the way things were happening in their districts. I got charmed by the mystery and the dark side of the witches – including a TW moment that happens in the book. For me in general wasn’t too gruesome but the detail of that scene was pretty detailed and played with my imagination big time and I felt like that was a big point that moved the story forward.
The magic system was really great – however, I wanted it to be a little bit more explained, how they get their powers, from who more exactly because each one of the witches was part of elemental affinities and they were able to control them but from who exactly they get their powers weren’t mentioned and I felt that was an interesting thing to find out.
I also adored the way Fate and Sable were discussing and having their relationship, the way he was guiding her but also “showing” her things that can or will happen. It was really interesting that part of the book.
I adored the forbidden love and the stolen kisses, the romance in the book was clean so no smut things were happening but their kisses and forbidden moments were just the perfect touches on a book already filled with lots of amazing things happening.
I felt the book had some Hunger Games elements for example the districts were very close to the Hunger Games ones including the selection and the way the prince was choosing his own wife, instead of fighting to death they were competing for his heart in different ways, the world-building was really fascinating and everything played behind my eyes like a movie.
I loved the different use of tropes in this book from forbidden love to found family and friendship. However, as much as I’ve enjoyed the romance in the book I felt the relationship between Tauron and Sable to be a little bit too quickly perhaps some will call it insta-love. Sometimes it felt a little bit forced how from reading in the wish bones she was already swooning for him and nothing else pretty much didn’t matter – the thing that I found good was the fact they didn’t act on their impulses from the beginning so that allowed for things to flow a little bit more naturally but their overall thoughts were pretty much into the insta-love trope.
Another thing that I enjoyed but also not so much because at times it was a little bit too much, was the description of everything. I felt we’ve received way too much information that perhaps could’ve been left out to play more with our imagination.
Overall I did find this book to be an interesting read and I’ve enjoyed more things than disliked. The beginning and the end of the book were definitely on the more promising side of things because we’ve got magic, Fate, and other witchy rituals that captivated me from the get-go.

The beginning of the book felt confusing to me, it began a little bit off with Grayson who at the beginning sounded like he was going to his own wedding when in fact he was going to his friend’s wedding Dani – who apparently he’s had a crush on her for plenty of time.
The book definitely touches on the friends to lovers trope which was really sweet and romantic. I enjoyed it because it was nicely done and didn’t feel rushed, especially since Dani and Grayson knew each other for a long while. There’s also the forced proximity and one bed/one room trope which was just perfect and added to the tension building in the book and also the sexual tension that was needed.
There was also another trope that I think it was the first time I’ve experienced and I’m not that sure I’ve enjoyed it. Dani has no confidence in herself, she thinks she’s the ugly duckling and Grayson is the best looking guy ever and there is no way for him to look at her – ignoring all the signs he’s giving her. The lack of confidence in herself kind of felt too repetitive, whenever she was in his company this was the main thing she was thinking on. At the same time, I did understand where Dani came from because everyone around her was putting her down and commenting about her appearance and stuff even from childhood which definitely can shatter someone’s confidence. I did enjoy that eventually her character did grow and put herself first and also had more confidence in herself and choosing the right things for her own good.
Their overall relationship in the book was good, the romance is clean but there’s still that type of tension going on – I did wish for their relationship to be a little bit longer and perhaps with some more tension but considering the book is a short one I think the time spent on building their relationship was just the right amount.
What I didn’t enjoy about Dani was that once she got together with Grayson she kind of gave me the feeling she “trapped him” and now she doesn’t need to work or have any dreams, like one moment she was thinking about her future and the next she forgot everything about it and all she was thinking on was basically nothing, felt a little bit contradictory. Their issue in the book also felt a little bit too forced, it didn’t give me those hurtful feelings that I would’ve expected from said event.
Overall the story is short and catchy and it’s a nice fast-paced read.

The 5th book in Shattered Kingdom series starts with a boom. We get Gandrett fighting on finding a way to save Nehelon from the towers and also finding allies to fight against the Dragon King.
Sadly this time the book for half of it felt a little bit dragging, at least for me, perhaps because the pace was a little bit slower than the rest 4 books – I can’t exactly tell what felt off, but I did feel like half of it was a little bit not so impactful as the others 4 were. However, that didn’t dim the light of this series at all.
Shattered Kingdom is an amazing series to read and with each book the plot thickens, the characters get bolder, their growth is amazing and with each book out there you get one step closer to the end of the series and while I’m sad to see it coming to an end, I’m also excited because I really want to know the outcome of Dragon King, what will happen with Addie and the future of each character involved into this series and the secrets.
What I particularly loved in this book was the relationship between Taghi and McKenzie – they’ve grown together so good and so amazing and I’m really excited about reading more about these two because the tension and romance between them is just perfect.
The relationship between Gandrett and Nehelon is chef’s kiss, they’re lovely together and while I’m not a big fan of the fated mates trope – this trope in the book was so perfectly done and I loved it so, so much.
Overall even if the book felt a little bit off for me (at least a portion of it) – I’ve enjoyed it, it’s been a great read and I’m really excited for the next one in the series to see what else we’re going to receive – what secrets will be revealed.

The book began very intriguingly with Yesenia trying to have a spicy moment with Erran when he destroyed everything with his feelings – which for me was pretty funny because Yesenia was pretty hot and bothered and then he started talking destroying her mood and that made me giggle.
The humor from between the pages was the perfect thing ever. I will not quote any of the funny things said in the book because you legit have to read it yourself. The language can be tricky because it reminded me of the Outlander type of language, the Scottish language if I’m not wrong – it was tricky, but not extremely hard to understand or read and I felt it added something more unique to the book. Each one of them was talking so nice and colloquially and here comes Yesenia with her language which in my head sounded a little bit rougher for a lady back then – which made her even more unique.
Yesenia as a character she’s strong, definitely beautiful, and doesn’t shy away from that but at the same time she knows the body is just a body and doesn’t “price” it as everyone else in the kingdom does with pretty dresses and all of that, she’s more on the boyish side and I loved she held her ground and always had something hiding in her sleeve that would’ve stun everyone.
Corin as a character at the beginning I hated him. I loathed him with all my life because he was the perfect puppy for his brother and father and I hated him for not standing his ground towards his abusers, but along the way I’ve learned that he had two sides of him. A good doer in front of his dad and brother who wouldn’t blink in the wrong direction, and a secret side of him that did way more good behind their backs. I cheered when he first stood up against his brother, I adored that moment. This time the growth of a character wasn’t focused on the female as usual, but on the guy – Corin grew up immensely through the story and it was just perfect.
There was something magical in the book mostly about Yesenia’s brother – Byrne, we got a story about him towards the end of the story that kind of made me feel a little bit creepy, but in general, the book doesn’t contain a magical system. It does contain sexy scenes which are pretty spicy but not spicy to end up being smutty but enough to make you all blush.
The book contains a couple of tropes that I’ve enjoyed a lot, forced marriage, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and a new trope that I’ve not read previously – the surprising marriage. I thought I might not enjoy that trope but I actually did and it was really nicely made.
The plot twist, the bigger plot twist came towards the end of the book and it was just amazing. For me, the book has been a quick read and fast-paced and I legit didn’t realize when I ended up being 60% in it because it just flow so nicely.

House of Bastiion by K.L. Kolarich
5.0
◦ I've received this book as an ARC in exchange of my honest review ◦
Four Houses: Pilar, Darakai, Boreal, and Bastiion forge an accord with the royal line of Thoarne, founding a Quadren of advisory to the throne of Orynthia. Every generation, a single Haidren from each House is appointed to their coveted chair – this year is Luscia’s Ascension to adulthood and finally takes her seat at court as al’Haidren to the House of Boreal. While she adjusts to the new life, she uncovers a maze of political traps and dark secrets. Slain children start to pile up on the streets of Bastiion forcing Luscia to form a strange alliance with the Darakai al'Haidren.
Phew, this book! In the beginning, I had a hard time getting into the story because there are so many characters and the language is different with each house, and obviously I forgot there's a glossary so don’t fret my friend. Each House has its own language and culture and they’re intertwined so beautifully, you’re not reading this book, you’re taking part in a new world that develops right in front of your eyes.
The book focuses mostly on Zaethan and Luscia, two amazing characters that hate each other to blood. Zaethan has been raised on preconceptions about Luscia’s House – considering everyone from House of Boreal filthy witches (y’sity). Luscia hasn’t really seen the big world outside her House, she was sheltered as much as possible, but while sheltered she learned to fight better than her own Najjan (Boreali warrior).
The book is a Dark Fantasy, twisted and so intricate. If you think you’ve figured everything out on the page you read, on the next one you’re completely lost and brought once again on intertwined mystery and political maze. No one is who they seem to appear.
While there is almost no romance, the book really intrigued me from many points of view. There is this shadowy person that appears throughout the book – never showing enough to know who the person is, all you know is bits and pieces and I really want to find more about it, especially since apparently Alora (the aunt of Luscia) feels somehow attached to this mysterious figure.
The book, the characters the world-building is rich and perfect for epic fantasy readers. The threads of suspense that go throughout the novel make it hard to put down, you legit hold your breath – because you never know what happens next. This was an amazing read and I can’t wait for the next one.

Dark Refuge by Angelina J. Steffort

The book picks right where the last one ended and what an adventure this one has been. I loved the new events happening between Taghi and McKenzie, and Miitra and Muriel are most likely part of a sapphic short story which I hope will be more developed in the next book because they’re such a vibe!!
There are also other characters who I feel gave a small hint of something going on between them but nothing is set in stone, but I hope they will because I love the diversity in Angelina’s books and I feel they will add such a different tone to the book.
The book this time hooked me from the get-go, Addie’s going through hell and back but the characters I’ve loved the most were Taghi and Mac, their story has been teasing us for a long time and we’re finally getting some action – nothing smutty, but a lot of tension, stolen glances, stolen smiles and so many sweet moments with beautiful quotes!!
The story even tho is over 400 pages was a quick and fast-paced read and I’ve enjoyed it to the max. I loved the new secrets coming to life, the lineage of Gandrett finally being revealed and the new step in the relationship between Gandrett and Nehelon moves to.
The story definitely has enemies to lovers, forbidden love, found family, found friendship, and fated mate trope. Even tho I’m not a big fan of the fated mate trope this trope was made really good in the book.
There are lots of plot twists in the book that made me lose my mind and the ending was definitely mind-blowing, and I’m really curious about how this series will end because there are so many things going on in all the corners of this book that makes it complex but easy to read and be such a nice story to follow.
