Curves for Days

☀️Book Review☀️
❤️Curves for Days ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Curves for Days was such a sweet rom-com featuring a sassy plus-size FMC and a grumpy and sweet MMC. I can’t wait for it to come out in stores in August so I can buy a physical copy for myself 💞

I love reading books about plus sized women because it feels good to see myself in the story. Sometimes this can be over punctuated and their entire identity is just “fat”. However, this book does a wonderful job developing Rosie’s character and storyline. Readers can quickly come to love her sassy, independent, and humble ways.

Angus, the MMC, was unbelievably sweet and thoughtful. He is a therapist, war veteran, and contractor who loves nothing more than to make Rosie happy. The dual POV let readers see Rosie through his eyes and made me love her and him so much more.

The “conflict” in Curves for Days was a bit lack luster, but that’s mostly because I hate the miscommunication trope. Other than that piece, I loved the way the characters interacted and their dialogue carries the book. ❤️

Thank you to the author, the publishers and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Wowza. I read this entire book in less than 24 hrs. I could not stop. However, a few cringey and awkward aspects keeps this from a 5 star review. Gotta sit and sort out my thoughts before I can truly elaborate/give a effective review.

final review:
Summary:
Ox was sixteen when the shape shifting Bennett family moved in next door. The Bennetts can transform into wolves at will. Shy and quiet Ox is drawn into their world of magic, wonder, and connection. As his love grows for the family, danger approaches and puts it all at risk.

Written from Ox’s POV, Wolfsong explores what I means to be family, what it means to love, and what it means to heal, grow, and forgive.

Tj Klune’s first book in the Green Creek series, Wolfsong, kept me hooked from the first page to the last. I read the entire thing in less than 24 hrs!

If you like paranormal, romance, queer love, werewolves, etc. This is the book for you. It was not unlike other Klune books in the way he makes readers feel so deeply for his characters. I’m not one to cry *much* when reading books, but I was crying a bit while reading Wolfsong. It was such a surprising and interesting story.

I did not like the age gap in this book. Though it’s only 6 years, they meet when joe is 10 years old and were just friends. Having them meet so young, then start the romance aspect once Joe was 18? Still weird. I tried to trust the process but I still felt weird by the end. I think if they met when Joe was a little older, their love story would have been much better. The author uses a lot of werewolf logic to make sense of this and make it “okay” but it didn’t land for me.

I do admit some of the werewolf stuff felt awkward/cringey to me anyways. This type of story (paranormal) is a bit out of my usual territory. However, the whole family group (love a found family!!!) and tense plot kept me reading.

Finally finished In the Lives of Puppets!! It took me a bit to get into this book, but I did after a couple of chapters. Unfortunately, the end felt rushed and not very fulfilling. This book took me over 10 days to finish which is very unusual for me.

I really wanted to LOVE this book in the same way that I loved Under the Whispering Door. However, it was just okay for me. Some of the main characters (Nurse RATCHED and Rambo) seemed juvenile and annoying at times. HAP is amazing and so lovable. I’d be interested in reading the original book that TJ Klune mentioned in the acknowledgements. Apparently, he had to remove a lot from this book before publishing (not sure why??).

This book felt deeply personal. Although I haven’t experienced much of what Adelaide had, I could resonate with the sacrifice of her own needs to fulfill her desire to be loved and accepted by those around her. Wonderful and thoughtful writing!
