This book essentially chronicles a family navigating the death of their patriarch. I expected there to be a bit more thrill and mystery after reading the summary, but that is not the true focus of the story. The main theme is around the siblings and their relationships to one another, their father, and others. I really enjoyed the writing style. I typically really enjoy family centered novels, but I found myself less engaged than usual. I think this was in part due to the climax occurring, and the book continuing on from a point I felt it should have wrapped up. I also didn't connect to the characters as much as I would have liked Regardless, I did enjoy reading this complicated family story.

Thank you to Random House Publishing. The Dial Press, and NetGalley for the ARC.

I didn't know what to expect with this one but I really enjoyed it. I loved the writing style and the depth to all the characters. I found every character interest and relevant. It's very much a character study on 3 central characters and their relationships over the years. I liked the Montana setting as well. Glad I read this one!

There was literally no need to have that many POVs.

The first thing I will say is that the author is not a doctor. He mentions this, but I think it's important to keep in mind. I picked this up because my doctor diagnosed me with high cortisol due to chronic stress, and told me I needed to activate my 'rest & digest' mechanism. This book has some helpful exercises at the end, but the rest of it was pretty dry and didn't give me much information. I did skip the autism section due to other reader's notes on that chapter. I recommend reading a short medical article on the vagus nerve and then the exercise portion, but the first half of the book was not worth reading.
