So. I had high expectations about this book. They were not met.
I wanna begin by saying that I still enjoyed reading the book, it's fast and easy to read, and I think it can be very helpful and also hopeful for young LGBT+ people. If I had read this book a couple years ago, I would've given it five stars. So maybe this is just a case of "this book is not for me."
There were a few things that took me out of the reading:
- The writing. I don't know why. It felt too forced. To many swear words. Things that were repeated so often that they lost meaning.
- Info dumping when describing the characters. I hate it.
- The love triangle.
Felix spends the book falling for Declan, then, despite never having shown any romantic feelings towards Ezra, he suddenly decides Ezra is the right for him.
WTF. Honestly.
Anyway. I also was annoyed by the main character during most of the book.
BUT. Despite everything, I do think this is a good book for someone who's still trying to understand their gender identity. It certainly would've made it easier for me if I had read it five years ago.

The first hundred pages or so had me convinced this book was going to be at least a 4 star book. But then things kinda went downhill from then on.
The story is very readable, I had my fun with it; the premisse was so interesting. But then after those hundred pages it seems like the story lost itself. Up until then we were setting the story up, creating the enviromnent, giving the reader a feel for what that world was like. After that is when things really start happening, and it just seemed so rushed. Like all the important things, which should've been given more time to develop, were simply rushed.
There are books which I think are too long for its purpose. This one is the opposite - I think it should've been longer and allowed itself to develop properly.
Something that bothered me a lot was
how fast Sophia forgets her love for Erin as soon as she meets Contance. There's also a lot of showing when there should be telling. We never really get to see Erin and Sophia's relationship so we can relate to their conflict, we never properly see anything of importante between Sophia and Constance to show why they should be together, we never see how Liv mattered to Sophia (her death felt like nothing to me). Also the instant love between Sophia and Constance was very annoying.

I never felt like Sophia was at any real risk. Things also solved themselves too easily. There were so many cool concepts that could be better explored. Seriously. I feel for the things that this book could've been.
Also, is it hypocritical of me to think that the ending was too fairy-tale like? lmao
Anyway. Still giving it 3 stars because it was a really easy read, and it kept me going even when I was annoyed.

I expected this book to be hornier than it was. It left me feeling weirdly emotional. Also, it's super weird but not the way I expected it to be. I don't know how I feel about it. At times I felt that the writing was kinda pretentious, but then other times it hit just right. Anyways, listening to this was certainly an experience.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 7%.
I felt bored so I went to look for reviews to know if it was worth continuing and apparently the premise doesn't go the way I expected, so I decided it's not a book for me.

I was always confused at the beginning of each story, then I started understanding it, then I was back to being confused, but in a good way.

My favorites:
The Immortal
Story of the Warrior and the Captive
The House of Asterion
The Other Death
The Zahir
The Writing of the God
The Two Kings and the Two Labyrinths
Circe by Madeline Miller
