I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book!
I loved how it was a book about a book where two lovers were experiencing the last hours of their love while simultaneously, we the readers, were reading about the last hours of so many lovers. I think the author has woven these two things so beautifully together. There were also some parts that were really deep and made me appreciate the simplicity of life, how we don’t always need the things we think we need in order to be happy and sometimes even in “bad times” we can be happy!

Die Handlung ist eigentlich interessant und das Setting super schön! Zum einen die Academy selbst und zum anderen Monaco
Allerdings hat das leider nicht gereicht und es gibt einige Punkte die mich sehr gestört haben.
Zu aller erst fand ich es schon sehr nervig, dass Nika ständig wiederholen musste, dass sie ja nicht wieder dasselbe erleben möchte was sie in der Schule erlebt hat. Ihr fragt euch was sie in der Schule erlebt hat das so schlimm war? Ich weiß es leider auch immer noch nicht. Klar wurde es ein paar mal erwähnt, dass sie gemobbt wurde aber weiter darauf eingegangen wird es nicht obwohl es seit dem Anfang des Buches so darauf hingewiesen wird wie sehr sie es vermeiden möchte. Man denkt sie trägt ein Geheimnis mit sich welches zu einer großen Offenbarung führen wird aber nein. Es wird einfach nur jeden 2. Satz wiederholt wie schlimm ihre Schulzeit doch war.
Genau so wurde es auch nervig wie Lova sich stäääändig über Luis beschwerte. Wann auch immer sie ihn sah oder seinen Namen hörte, fing sie sofort an schlecht über ihn zu reden, ihn zu beleidigen oder ihm den Mittelfinger zu zeigen. Solch ein Verhalten ist NICHT realistisch, viel zu kindisch und echt nervig zu lesen.
Übrigens wird es zwar erwähnt, dass Nika Fechterin ist aber es kommt danach nichts mehr darüber vor. Das ist für mich grundsätzlich kein großes Problem da ich Sport romance eigentlich nicht so gerne mag aber selbst ich muss zugeben, dass es echt ZU wenig war. Keine Einblicke, ihre Beweggründe warum das Fechten, irgendwelche Trainings oder Turniere, gar nichts von dem kommt leider vor.
Außerdem hieß es in der eigentlichen Beschreibung des Buches, dass es mehr darum handelt wie Ambrose von Nika möchte, dass sie sich an Aaron heranmacht. Dieser Deal wird auch am Anfang besprochen und dann gibt es eine Szene wo Nika kurz mit Aaron spricht aber das war es dann auch schon fürs erste. Es kommt sonst für eine längere Zeit keine Szenen mehr über die beiden sondern eher über Nika und ihre Freunde oder Ambrose wie er sich fertig macht weil er im Schatten seines Bruders steht und erst ab so 50% gehen die beiden mal was essen.
Ich hatte mir eigentlich vorgestellt, dass es mehr Szenen geben wird wo sich Nika an Aaron heranmacht und man auch mitbekommt wie Aaron langsam Interesse an ihr bekommt, stattdessen wurde das Thema gar nicht so groß aufgeführt bis es dann plötzlich Ernst wurde. Zumal es am Anfang erwähnt wurde, dass Aaron sich von Beziehungen und Ablenkungen fern hält war es schon komisch und unrealistisch wie Nika ihn einfach so auf ein Essen überreden konnte welches EIN TAG vor einem Turnier stattfand welches für ihn sehr wichtig ist.
Es gab natürlich viele Szenen zwischen Ambrose und Nika aber es wurde meiner Meinung nach viel zu schnell davon gesprochen, dass Ambrose sich an Nika herangezogen fühlt. Die beiden hatten gar nicht so viel miteinander geredet gehabt als Ambrose dann auf einer party realisierte dass er nicht möchte wie andere Nika‘s Körper sehen und er sich fragte woher diese Gefühle kommen.
Übrigens gibt unser männlicher Protagonist, Ambrose, Nika den Spitznamen „Bugs“ weil sie einmal ein Pyjama anhatte mit Bugs Bunny UND… nennt sie auch während der spicy scene „Bugs“… ihr könnt euch vorstellen was für ein Abturn das war und ehrlich gesagt wollte ich das Buch an der Stelle einfach nur noch abbrechen… :)
In einer Szene sagt Nika zu ihrer Freundin: „Was, wenn mehr zwischen Ambrose und mir läuft, es dann trotzdem auseinandergeht und er aus dem Nähkästchen plaudert?“
Diese Szene erfolgt übrigens NACHDEM sie mit Ambrose auf einer Gala heimlich im Badezimmer geschlafen hat. Wenn Nika so eine große Angst hat nochmal fertig gemacht zu werden von ihren Mitschülern wie sie es früher wurde, denke ich nicht, dass sie so etwas tun würde und dieser Satz, den sie zu ihrer Freundin sagt, bestätigt es einfach. Wenn Nika wirklich solche Probleme hat Ambrose zu vertrauen und denkt er würde etwas erzählen wenn die beiden sich irgendwie streiten würden, warum sollte sie mit ihm auf einer Gala schlafen?
Es entwickelte sich alles so schnell zwischen denen, plötzlich schlafen sie miteinander obwohl man die Spannung zwischen denen gar nicht gefühlt hat. Dann kommen sie raus aus dem Badezimmer und machen einfach so weiter? Als wäre nichts passiert? Darüber wird auch gar nicht mehr gesprochen? Was genau war der Sinn dieser Szene?
Alles in allem kann man sagen, dass dieses Buch von der Idee her gut war aber die Umsetzung echt gescheitert ist.

I love the magnolia park series with my whole heart but after reading the first book of Daisy Haites I realized that I’m more of a Magnolia girly. Daisy haites 1 was okay but it didn’t blew me as much as MP so I initially wanted to skip this book. I read ‘the great undoing’ mainly because I needed to read about Julian’s POV from TLWH!!
As I only read this book to get insights on Julian’s POV while he was with Magnolia, I wasn’t much interested in Daisy’s story so I was a bit bored during her parts. It didn’t help much either that Christian and her story fell so flat and nothing much happened between them in the beginning. BUT after she broke up with Tiller it finally got more interesting! From this part on, I was HOOKED.
I saw some people saying that this book is just a repetition of “The long way home” which is why I didn’t wanted to read this book and I’m SO glad I didn’t listen to these people because oh god were they wrong! Obviously this book takes place at the same timeline like “the long way home” but you get soo many new insights and many things just make more sense! You also have the story of Daisy and Christian which wasn’t featured in “the long way home”. I love seeing ‘the other side of the story’ because there is always two sides of one story. Now that I got to see Julian’s side, everything just makes more sense and I fell for him harder than I thought possible…
I know some people complain about Julian and think there’s too much of him and Magnolia in this book but we need Julian’s pov to understand what happened in TLWH? And guys, the series is literally called the ‘Magnolia Parks Universe’. 🙄 So yeah she’s gonna be heavily featured throughout ALL books.
And yes, even if I’m Julian Haites #1 fan, would I still want him to end up with Magnolia? My answer to that before reading ‘the great undoing’ would be yes definitely! Now I’m not so sure anymore and would rather tend to No… not because Julian doesn’t deserve it or is a bad person but rather for Magnolia’s safety
The ending shattered my heart and I cried! Overall, this book started off a bit slow and boring in the beginning but turned out to be a masterpiece in the end!!
As I already mentioned I read this second Daisy book only for Julian & Magnolia and am not interested enough in Daisy. Now that Magnolia has her ending with BJ in ‘into the dark’ I probably wont be reading the rest of the Daisy books that may come (aside from the fact that I’m a Magnolia girly anyway, it looks like the author don’t even wanna continue Daisy’s story and I don’t wanna wait ages for a book release)

Magnolia Parks: Into the Dark by Jessa Hastings

It’s very possible I’ll change my rating to a 5 star one one day but for now it’s a 4! (Never thought I would rate a Magnolia Parks book less than 5 stars!)
The reason for this is that the book was too long. I love Magnolia Parks, but this one started off slowly, with the first 100 pages focusing on daily activities that didn’t contribute much to the story. I know and understand that it’s very hard to bring all these heavy topics up and try to handle and sort them out in fewer pages but it really dragged on some parts .. especially towards the end with the trip
BJ’s character development in this book was top tier and I’m so proud of him! He's acknowledging his mistakes, going to therapy, and trying to change for the woman he loves while also helping her manage her emotions.🥹
While reading "Into the Dark," I occasionally revisited a few pages from book 1 (MP) and book 2 (TLWH), and I was amazed at how different BJ was in these books compared to "Into the Dark." He truly became a much better person for her! It was such a contrast from the previous books, and it felt strange at first not to see Magnolia and BJ fighting every two pages. Instead, they communicated like adults and seemed more mature. (Though I did miss their banter and drama, which initially drew me into this series. 👀)
The chapter with Julian broke me and I will die on this hill that Julian will be always my number 1! (Sorry Bj)
What was a bit strange was the part where BJ and magnolia started discussing who would pay the costs for their wedding.. They are like suuper rich, having privat jets, just buying houses all around the world like they are shopping for clothes (at one part it was mentioned that magnolia used a 500$ bill to wish the table) yet suddenly at the wedding they’re arguing about wedding costs? 🤔 I really don’t think that THIS would’ve been the biggest concern for Magnolia and Bj and let Magnolia’s grandma Bushka pay for everything at the end but okay..
Overall I’m very sad that this series has come to an end. I laughed, cried and suffered with them and they all feel so real that it’s making me sad to think about that it was all just fiction. I will revisit and reread this series over and over again that’s for sure and I’m excited for all the books that are yet to come where Magnolia and Bj may be mentioned❤️

The book had some really good quotes and the general idea is beautiful but unfortunately the story is written SO boring…
I thought a lot about just to DNF this book because I got too bored but the occasional good parts kept me going and I hate to DNF books. The story started slow and really dragged on…
This book had potential to be so good but it got ruined by the bad writing style so I don’t think I will ever reread the whole book but only occasionally look back to the inspiring passages I marked.

Loved it! I was a bit more invested in the romance part because Ethan was THE cutest ever and there aren’t many love stories that touched me as much as this one! I could relate to Maggie on so many parts (always doubting myself because people make me, being lonely…) I really need an Ethan too! 🥹
The mystery part was fine too for those who like it but I definitely was more here for the love story!

Seriously, I’m all in if the trope is grumpy guy x sunshine girl but this was grumpy guy x grumpy girl 😭
These two just walked around complaining and hating about everything. Reading about their dialogues was painful and made me depressed. This book does NOT put you into a Christmas mood but makes you despise it since the characters keep complaining and hating about everything Christmas related, why would anyone enjoy reading this while wanting to be in a festive mood??
I also couldn’t stand charlotte complaining about how much she hates being a former child actress in a Christmas movie. Like girl… WE GET IT!!😭
I am reading many Christmas related books lately as it’s the season and gave only 5 stars to them all until now but this just wasn’t it and made me frustrated

Only complaint was when Nick finally said the reason why he broke up with her in the past which isn’t a good enough reason in my view. I mean why couldn’t they just hide their relationship like many celebrities/authors do and make their relationship public when they both have made their careers stable?
