A beautiful story about a journey that brings up some tough topics like grief, relationships, and love. I loved the art and the characters. I’m looking forward to continuing on with the series. Even though I’ve seen a few episodes of the anime already, that didn’t make this any less enjoyable.

This was well researched and executed. I appreciated the personal vignettes of the authors life that she added in.

Such an endearing book. I’m glad I finally read it. The story was enchanting and the world was magical.

I will say, I had a hard time suspending my disbelief when Sophie had the curse placed on her and turned into an old woman. She was so casual and calm and accepting of it after only 30 seconds. What?

All in all, would recommend.

I’m so glad the book club I’m in chose this book to read. I would have put it off for even longer if they hadn’t. This had been on my radar for a while and I’ve heard people either rave about it or hate it. The first 30% of the book is mostly just setting up the world and introducing the reader to the characters (which there are a lot of), which I enjoyed, after that, the story gets going. Was I confused for a lot of it? Yes. Do I fully understand the different necromantic magic? No. Did I have a fun time and was thoroughly entertained? Absolutely yes.

This is very well done. Such a real depiction of heartbreak and breakups. I wish we had gotten a bit more from Jen’s perspective though. Sometimes Andy was a bit… annoying to me, but then again, he didn’t have much emotional intelligence or maturity throughout most of the book.

I wish we had read this classic in high school instead of some of the others. This was written over 200 years ago, but the story is timeless. I very much loved the book while I was reading it. The reason this isn’t 5 stars is because I never found myself eager to pick it up even though I was loving it, I’m not sure why.
