Adorei! Planeio fazer uma análise mais detalhada no meu blog, mas, resumidamente, este livro é excelente e vai começar a ser das minhas principais recomendações acerca de Wicca Alexandrina! É muito completo, foca em todos os pontos que considero importantes, inclusive nos mais controversos, e até disponibiliza uma lista de exercícios e contactos para interessades. Fantástico!

Well train rides gotta be good for something, so I finally got around to finish Wuthering Heights. I must say I finished it more out of spite than enjoyment. Every single character annoyed me in some way and made the reading hard. I did find some lovely quotes but honestly, I did not enjoy it much and doubt I will re read. I do admit though that the author is amazing and setting scenes and ambience and the book was amazing in that aspect, but I really disliked the characters.

It's a cute, light, and very quick read! It's very low stakes, with a happy ending! The main character can be a bit annoying because I think she's a bit TOO sunshiny, but it's tolerable! Overall, it's a nice read!

Amazing as always!! :) Fangirl is one of my fav books and I'm loving the manga adaptation. 

O Sagrado e o Profano by Mircea Eliade

Reading for "Anthropology of Religions" class at my uni course. 
 

Sinto que a minha análise do livro deve começar pelo facto de que este autor é, por si só, problemático. Eliade é conhecido por ser eurocêntrico, racista e fascista devido às suas ligações com movimentos fascistas romenos (e com a "Iron Guard"), algo que se reflete na sua escrita, inclusive neste livro. O livro é bastante discriminatório ao longo de todo o discurso, classificando várias religiões como sendo "primitivas" (ao contrário do Cristianismo, que não é primitivo). Aliás, uma comparação que demonstra a tendência "racista" do autor é que quando fala de religiões de origem europeia (romana, grega, etc.), utiliza o termo "religião arcaica", mas quando se refere a uma religião da Ásia, Américas ou África, utiliza o termo "religiões primitivas".

O livro é também bastante eurocêntrico, na medida em que o ponto de partida de Eliade é a própria visão "moderna, europeia". Apesar do autor defender, no início do capítulo IV, que o historiador das religiões deve ter uma perspetiva mais ampla e familiarizar-se com mitologias e folclores locais, nem duas páginas depois, caracteriza comportamentos religiosos de tribos nómadas como "aberrantes" e "excêntricos". Estes juízos de valor estão espalhados por todo o livro e demonstram o viés do autor.

Adicionalmente, o livro é bastante repetitivo. Apesar de só ter cerca de 100 páginas, o autor repete muito os seus pontos de vista, utilizando exemplos excessivos e, a meu ver, fazendo algumas comparações desnecessárias. Apesar de existirem pontos em comum, não considero apropriado efetuar uma comparação entre práticas africanas e práticas nativo-americanas, quando as mesmas possuem uma distância geográfica tão grande. Pelo menos, da forma como o autor as faz (generalizando-as e atribuindo a elas todas o mesmo significado e propósito). Creio que o facto de que existem aspetos religiosos em comum entre tribos geograficamente afastadas é um tópico bastante interessante, mas não deve ser abordado da forma como o autor aborda.

No geral, é um livro que não me acrescentou nada aos conhecimentos que já tinha, e tenho as minhas dúvidas de que faça sequer sentido, em 2023, estar incluído na bibliografia base de uma unidade curricular universitária.

 Look, I love the Alice in Wonderland story, it was a movie I used to watch a lot as a kid but DAMN that Alice is freaking annoying as hell. I swear to Goddess, sometimes during the book I just wanted to punch her and say "SHUT UP!".

It's a good book but I honestly can't stand Alice. The writing can also be very confusing and you have to read like you're imagining a movie or you're going to get SO lost and it's really going to feel like Wonderland and not in the good sense of the concept.

Honestly? I was expecting better. 

Scott Cunningham - The Path Taken: Honoring the Life and Legacy of a Wiccan Trailblazer by Christine Cunningham Ashworth

This book was... wow. I grew up with Cunningham's books, in fact, Living Wicca was my first introduction to Paganism and Witchcraft. Scott Cunningham and Doreen Valiente were two pillars, two inspirations that have shaped my path and the way I devote my service to the community and reading this book gave me a whole new look of one of my role models. It also helped me on my own personal journey, reminding me of my beginnings and my practice and helped me get out of a long mont s rut. I highly highly recommend this book! If you wanna read a book about an influential, kind, queer pagan author, this is the one.

Apologia da História ou O Ofício de Historiador by Marc Bloch

 Mandatory reading for "The Limits of Historical Knowledge" class at my uni course. 

I enjoyed this book and I feel like it can provide me with a lot of knowledge and tools to help me on my path to becoming an Historian. Marc Bloch is an important figure in Historiography and a must for every Historian and student of History or Archeology.  It is a shame that the author was unable to bring this opus to its fruition and witness its publication. Nevertheless, it is a treasured work of historical wisdom, an obligatory cornerstone in the education of all those who seek to fathom the annals of the past.
