This has been one of the best books I've read/listened to in the past few years. I absolutely love Charisma and her sass. I think this book strikes the perfect balance between lighthearted and serious, and the changing POVs helps you to love all of the characters.

The Arcane Mage series is one of my favorites. I really liked this book, the 2nd in the series, but it lacks the humor that the first book had. Charisma is still a great FMC and we get to meet a new character who is also awesome, but the book overall is not as good as the first one in my opinion. Still one that I've reread and listened to several times, and recommended.

Wow! This book was fantastic! I loved the story and it kept me engaged and intrigued throughout, while simultaneously making me want to review my Greek mythology. I appreciated that it is written in third person, which I think is much harder for authors to do.

**Spoiler incoming**
Throughout the whole book, I was really hoping for Damon and Parker to become more than acquaintances and I was so happy when they did. Their relationship was total couples goals and melted my heart. I totally have a crush on their dynamic.

This is a fantastic series and Jane Washington is an amazing author. The only reason I'm rating this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because one of the scenes hurt my heart so much I had to take a break from it. It was very powerful writing, but just a little bit too heavy for me.

I felt that this was a good book overall - not going to become a favorite, but I could read it again and will continue with the series whenever the next book is released. Without the last few chapters of the book, this would have been a 3-star read, but the last few chapters bumped it up to 4.

There are several men introduced that you can't help but like, even when you don't want to. Some scenes with a certain eccentric gentleman were absolutely swoon-worthy. But at the same time, a lot of the book was confusing and things weren't well explained. I also couldn't keep the names of a lot of the characters straight toward the end of the book. I found her referencing people whom I had no idea who they were, which was really frustrating.

The character knows how to fight and is pretty badass, but I did get tired of her trying to run from the guys. Some parts of the book felt repetitive, but there are a lot of plot twists that kept me reading despite the repetition. And the ending made me eager for the next book. Unfortunately, given that this book was written in 2021 and the second has not yet been released, it seems doubtful that we will get to learn what comes next.

I loved this book! First, let me say that the narrator of the audiobook, Aletha George, is one of my favorites. The story is great and moves at a good pace. The FMC is easily likeable and the dynamic between her and her guys is varied, which helps keep the story interesting. The plot is pretty predictable, but because it moved quickly, that didn't bother me.

I had mixed feelings about this book. There were so many things that were amazing in it! The steamy scenes were

I'm probably one of the few people that was disappointed by this book. There has been so much hype around it that I thought the story would be very engaging, but it wasn't for me. The world building was epic and I really appreciated that, but I didn't find any of the characters particularly likeable so I wasn't emotionally connected to any of them. I think the last 10% of the book was great, but the 90% before that almost made this a DNF for me and that only happens with about 1 out of every 200 books. I kept reading because I wanted to know where the story would go, but I didn't actually enjoy it and I often found myself wishing the book were shorter so I could just be done with it. As I said though, the final 10% was great and I will probably continue to the next book because of those last few chapters.

This book hooked me from the prologue and kept me engaged and intrigued through the epilogue. It was a fantastic read with a few twists that I did NOT see coming! And when they came, I even said out loud "Whaaaat?! I did not see that coming!", which tells you how into the book I was. Highly recommended and I hope there will be more to the story in future books.

This book wasn't really for me. I didn't really like any of the characters and while there were references to magic, I think categorizing this book as historical fantasy is a bit of a stretch. I definitely got the historical fiction vibes, but as a fantasy lover, it didn't feel like fantasy to me at all.

Overall, it was an ok read and the last quarter of it became both interesting and frustrating simultaneously, but the portion before that was pretty mundane. I also felt it was pretty repetitive. The FMC just kept acting in the same ways over and over again, but never learns from her mistakes.
I understand that this book is part of a series, but unfortunately I will not be continuing with the next book.
