Reading this for the second time almost seven years later, I forgot how much stuff was going on in this book. Of course, it makes sense as any other 10 or 11 year old would be amused to find out how eventful Harry Potter's life is, but sometimes I feel bad for how tired Harry must be. The main thing that makes the second time reading it amusing, is really the nostalgia factor that comes with it, but it is a great and fun cure for reading slumps.

The introduction got me intrigued, not gonna lie. I had expected some great storytelling of the author's childhood in the beginning and then it builds up so he can share more of his stories with his uncle, but the first 1/3 of the book turns his childhood into a long exposition that you sometimes forget there's even an uncle in the story. You don't really feel excited to get to that part; you kinda just wanna get it over with so you can read something a bit less boring. It just felt so dry and this book probably just pushed me further into my reading slump. I might get back to it; there were some scenes where the author shares some interesting anecdotes and some childhood stories that kind of resonated with me as well, so I may understand it more when I'm older. Or not.

so it's basically painstaking slow-burn totalitarianism
- was so invested in the story and then the 20-30 pages of Goldstein's doctrine came up and I was so bored
- I knew from miles away that O'Brien would be a twist villain BUT MR. CHARRINGTON???? I've never felt so betrayed in my entire life
