I found this thriller while browsing my library and took a chance but I ended up pleasantly surprised. I guessed some of the twists and the whodunnit, so I am factoring that in my ranking. It was an engaging read that staved off my reading slump, so for that alone I would recommend. I loved the dreary secluded setting, and even though there was a large cast of characters everything was fairly easy to keep track of. Give this one a chance if you find yourself facing a reading slump!

This book was a perfect depiction of teenager-hood in all its messy and cringey glory!!!! Phoebe was so fun and insightful and I feel like so many of the things she wrote were exact thoughts I had as a teenager. I loved the illustrations so much as well. Would definitely read another installment!

Ugh. The first part of this book was awesome. I loved the plot and the spice was on point. And then….

ACCIDENTAL PREGNANCY???? Say it ain’t so

I still enjoyed the book after this, but there were some really cringey parts. Also, I wish this was just a tad bit shorter. It really dragged for me near the end.

This was fun and angsty and I really liked it!! I didn’t care for the ending as much, but it was a fun ride

MEH. I enjoyed the beginning but as the plot started to advance I cared less and less. I love bookish girl rep, but Tansy get a backbone and tell your wicked stepmother and brother in law to fuck off. And Gemma, you’re dumb. This one just didn’t do it for me.

UGH. The characters in this were so annoying. Hannah girl, go to therapy. How are you going to get mad when your friends bring new friends to Christmas when your whole thing started as a safe space for two lonely people over the holidays?? DUMB

So many issues could’ve been solved if these people just had real conversations with each other

I had so much fun with this book!!! Viv is as enjoyable as ever, and I loved this new cast of characters (Fern is my girl). The storyline and setting were quintessentially cozy, with a little intrigue thrown in for spice. I may have enjoyed this one more than the first!

I think this just wasn’t for me. The book was well-written and engaging, but I just wasn’t a fan of the direction that the book took.
