This was a feel good book, but it was OTT at times (and highly unbelievable at others; like Edgar proposing before Carter had even said "I love you"). The characters' traits are highly dramatized and played up (in a style similar to Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall). Not much happened in this book and I don't feel like there was much character development. However, it was a very fast paced read and (if you don't take it too seriously) it was enjoyable. Overall 2.5-3 but I rounded up on account of how fast I read it.
This book was equally amazing and heartbreaking. I don’t think I have read a book more beautifully written. I stayed up far too late to finish it and I was crying for the last 20% of the book. I love how everything was wrapped up in the end and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I got a little bored in the middle of the book but after that, I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
This book was absolutely heartbreaking. Every chapter was beautifully written and the way that the author defined and explained his grieving process was unlike anything I have read. I also learned a lot from this book and came out of it with a newfound compassion for people suffering from mental illnesses.
This book is everything I didn't know I needed (ironically). I never read YA Fantasy novels but I am so glad I picked this one up! It was so amazingly wholesome and also quite emotional. The found family trope in the book had my heart growing too big for my chest and the characters were so loveable. Never did I think a green blob wanting to be a bellhop would have me sobbing but here we are. I will 100% be rereading this and annotating it.
